Energy is released and causes seismic waves. This makes the ground shake. |
Third and Forth StepThen, two the plates rub against each other. They stick and catch on to each other.
The rocks continue to push against each other but do not move. Eventually, the two tectonic plates break because of pressure. |
Fifth and Sixth StepThe earthquake occurs.
During and after the earthquake, these plates of rock start moving and keep moving until they get stuck. |
